Thompson Gray donates $10,000 to organization fighting hunger

Thompson Gray, Inc., a contractor with the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) with offices in Northern Virginia and Huntsville, Alabama, recently donated $10,000 to the Arlington Food Assistance Center (AFAC), the only organization in Arlington, Virginia, solely devoted to providing residents dignified access to nutritious, supplemental groceries free of charge. The organization, who fed hundreds of families in 2020 with the help of donations and volunteers, has seen an increase in families using their services due to the pandemic.

“Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, our team was unable to gather around the holidays to celebrate,” says Pat Riley, executive vice president of Thompson Gray’s Northern Virginia operation. “AFAC struck the hearts of our employees because of the difference it makes in the lives of thousands in our community each year. While we wish we could have gathered and shared in camaraderie as we usually do, our team feels the way we celebrated this holiday through supporting AFAC was well worth the temporary separation.”

Thompson Gray employees nominated several non-profit organizations in their community to receive the company’s holiday donation. The team voted and AFAC was selected.

Each quarter, all Thompson Gray employees have the opportunity to nominate organizations to receive donations up to $1,000. Since starting their quarterly charitable donations in 2015, the company has donated more than $60,000 and assisted more than 40 organizations.
